Jan earned her Masters and Ph.D. in Mythological Studies and Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute and her B.A. in Sacred Mythology from DePaul University.

Her background includes social services, teaching, counseling, therapeutic massage, and sacred ceremonies. In private practice since 1994, her work focuses on helping others understand life stories that shape physical and emotional patterns, heal old wounds, embrace their potential, and become the hero of their own mythic journey. 

She spent many years working in HIV/AIDS social services, providing direct services to clients and caregivers, facilitating support groups, and organizing hospice care.

Dr. Peppler is the founder of the Joseph Campbell Foundation Mythological RoundTable of Ketchum, Idaho, and co-chair of Goddess Studies for the American Academy of Religion Western Region. She has taught English and Humanities at College of Southern Idaho and College of Western Idaho.
